Child Safeguarding Policy

EB BALLERS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people participating in football coaching and summer camp activities.

We believe every child has the right to:

  • Enjoy football in a safe environment

  • Be treated with dignity and respect

  • Feel listened to and supported

  • Be protected from abuse, neglect, bullying, and exploitation

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

Staff & Volunteer Responsibilities

All coaches and supporting staff must:

  • Hold valid DBS clearance before working with children

  • Behave professionally at all times

  • Maintain appropriate boundaries

  • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately

  • Follow the code of conduct

  • Prioritise children’s welfare at all times

Appropriate Conduct

Staff must:

  • Use respectful language

  • Encourage inclusion and positive behaviour

  • Avoid favouritism

  • Ensure children are supervised appropriately

  • Work in open and visible environments where possible

Staff must never:

  • Use abusive or inappropriate language

  • Be alone with a child unnecessarily

  • Communicate privately with children on personal social media

  • Engage in physical punishment or humiliating behaviour

  • Ignore safeguarding concerns

Reporting Concerns

Any safeguarding concern must be reported immediately to the DSL.

If a child is believed to be in immediate danger:

  • Contact emergency services on 999

  • Contact Hertfordshire Children’s Services where appropriate

  • Inform the school immediately

All concerns will be recorded confidentially.

Photography & Social Media

Photos or videos of children will only be taken where parental consent has been provided.

Images will:

  • Be used appropriately

  • Never contain personal identifying information

  • Be stored securely

  • Be removed upon reasonable request

Anti-Bullying

Bullying of any kind is not tolerated.

This includes:

  • Physical bullying

  • Verbal abuse

  • Online bullying

  • Exclusion

  • Discrimination

Any incidents will be dealt with promptly and fairly.

Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if required.
